Biliary atresia Case

Little baby S M only 2½ months aged came to our clinic on 13th of June 2013 with the complaints of bloated abdomen with pain, nasal regurgitation of milk, stool after food (8-9 times). 99m Tc- Mebrofenin Hepatobiliary Scitiscan done on 21st of May 2013, showed “… Scintigraphic features are suggestive of complete biliary outflow obstruction ? Biliary atresia…”

Blood test done on 22nd of May 2013, T.Bill- 17.5, (Conj – 15.5, Unconj – 2) SGPT – 31, SGOT- 96 & Alkp – 1809

After undergoing treatment from us with the medicines all his clinical symptoms improved within a month. Now the patient is leading a trouble free, normal life.

Follow up 99m Tc - Mebrofenin Hepatobiliary Scitiscan done on 28th of January 2014, showed “…in comparison with the previous HIDA scan performed on 21.05.2013 the present scan shows no evidence of obstruction in the billary passage indicating marked therapeutic response...”
